This is a beautiful piece of maple burl that stands alone using it's bottom points to balance sturdily on a flat surface.
It features a beautiful pattern in the natural wood of the cut surface, as well as a spiky and rounded back where the burl has been kept intact: showing the affects of the disease and how it appears on the outer side of the affected tree. 
 
This piece is subtle and simple, paying tribute to the burled wood patterns of the background. 
The fur textures are deep and the use of negative space creates contrasts and light within the subject. 
This subject in this piece may appear subtle or bold depending on the angle and the lighting in which it is being viewed.
 
This piece has been finished with a linseed oil, to bring out the natural patterns of the burl as well as to protect.

Each piece is unique and a one of a kind original creation by Jaydlyn Joan. Works are highly detailed with a photo realistic look. Each hair is burned individually, and with close attention paid to the patterns and flow of the fur of each animal. Shading and highlighting is expertly applied, creating depth and contrast to each piece in accordance to the type and colour of  wood used.
